About the prints

Platium Palladium Prints

Since the late 1800s, platinum palladium has been the most revered printing process for fine art photography. A platinum palladium print gives an extremely wide tonal range, with excellent shadow detail and delicate highlights. While inherently a lower contrast process, platinum palladium prints posess an unrivaled smoothness and luminosity. These prints are highly sought after by collectors for their extreme archival qualities. As the image is made of noble metals, a properly made platinum print can last over a millennium without fading.

I appreciate the process for its great deal of flexibility. As the chemistry must be mixed by hand before being applied to paper, the final qualities of the print can be adjusted according to desires of the image. Depending on chemistry choice and the ratio of metals used, the final print can range from a rich bronze tone to an ethereal steel grey.

Certificates and finishing

All prints come with signed letterpressed certificates detailing the process, title, date, and edition of the print.

All framing is done by me in house to a high museum standard. All prints are corner mounted to ensure there is no adhesive in contact with the print. I prefer to frame in solid hardwoods and museum glass.

Silver Gelatin Prints

Silver gelatin printing has been the gold standard of black and white photography since the early twentieth century. The process yields prints with a cool tonal character, pronounced contrast, and deep blacks that give the image a strong physical presence.
While not as archival as platinum printing, selenium-toned silver gelatin prints are remarkably durable and, with proper care, can last for several hundred years.

Inkjet Prints

All inkjet prints are produced by me using Epson printers with archival pigment inks. Printing in-house gives me precise control over tone, contrast, and finish. I print exclusively on Hahnemühle papers, resulting in high-quality, archival prints at an accessible entry point into the work.
